Hydrodemolition requires a substantial source of clean, potable water. Rampart’s hydrodemolition equipment operates at Ultra High Pressure (UHP – 35,000-psi).  Operating at UHP, we consume approximately 60% less water than our low pressure (20,000-psi), high volume water consuming competitors.  This means we need much less water to do the same work.  Lower consumption means less water delivered to the jobsite, less water to contain and collect, less water to treat, and less water to dispose.  All of this results in lower cost for Rampart’s hydrodemolition.

Water is critical to hydrodemolition. To be successful, the hydrodemolition unit needs a continuous supply of fresh water.  Hydrants are the first choice as they will provide an adequate supply of water.  Water can be taken from wells, lakes and streams provided the water is clear and does not contain algae or other materials.

The most convenient way to transport the water from the hydrant to the work area is by hose or pipe. Rampart can install a rigid pipe along the length of the bridge to supply not only the water for the hydrodemolition process, but also clean up, pre-wetting of the deck, curing following placement, and final clean up.  Having a continuous supply of fresh water at all times and at convenient locations along the structure is very efficient.

When hydrants are not close to the structure, Rampart can provide water in our fleet of tank trucks. Tank trucks fill up at the local hydrant or other clean source of water and deliver the water to the work area.  Projects that are located in remote areas can be serviced by tank trucks.  Because of our low water consumption, tank trucks may only need to make one trip for each shift of production allowing the tank truck to fill up during off hours.  If a second load of water is needed, the tanker can top of the 1200 gallon tank on our hydrodemolition support trailer.  This allows the tanker to pick up a second load of water without impacting the hydrodemolition production.

The standard water connection to the hydrodemolition support trailer is through a 2″ female camlock.
